There’s no better time than winter to turn your boring bathroom into a spa retreat. Some jobs, like replacing a faucet, re-grouting tile, or repainting can be relatively easy for the average do-it-yourselfer,  but more ambitious jobs like replacing the tub or retiling the floor might be better left to a professional like the skilled artisans at Andy onCall.A complete remodel might be a bigger investment, it could be worth considering. Many older homes were not built using mold-resistant drywall, so if you’re going to investment in upgrading your bathroom, that’s one of the best places to start.

Since there is a lot of plumbing involved when replacing bathtubs, sinks and toilets, it’s generally best to hire an expert to ensure it’s done right. Once the walls are closed up, a small leak can go unnoticed for a long time, which could result in serious damage.

Okay, so now we have decided we are going to update the bathroom, where to begin? Is your grout gunky with unsightly mildew? Is your sink hopelessly outdated? Are you over the pale green paint you put on the walls three years ago?

Corral that Clutter. One of the biggest issues in any bathroom is unattractive clutter. What’s needed is an attractive storage solution. Baskets can provide texture in a room full of slick, sterile surfaces. They are also affordable and come in a multitude of shapes and sizes. They can be used on countertops, attached to the wall, or under the sink to corral all those bathroom necessities!

Change out the vanity.  Do you just want to update your old dated vanity for a more modern one, or do want to go for one of those vanities that looks like it’s in a chest of drawers? Or what about changing a single sink for a double sink? Do you have the room for such a drastic change? Do you know what’s involved plumbing-wise? Don’t worry, Our Craftsmen know how to determine what you can and can’t do in regard to swapping out your vanity and how to handle the plumbing changes as well.

Retile the floor. The floor, particularly in a smaller room, can have a big impact on the space. Using larger tile in smaller spaces, can make the space feel larger. Replacing the old hexagonal tile with 12”x12” tile can turn a dated bathroom into a more contemporary-feeling one. But, beware…Tiling is tricky work and an art-form. Probably best if you call Andy onCall and have one of our skilled tilers do the work for you.

Bathroom Facelift. Andy onCall has a quick service they provide for customers who are looking for a quick facelift of their bathrooms.  This service does not require the movement or relocation of any walls or fixtures, but instead provides the perfect refresh by replacing the vanity, toilet and tub/shower surround usually in about 2 weeks.

Paint. How many times have we talked about how a fresh coat of paint can completely change the look and feel of a room? Well it is certainly even truer of smaller rooms like bathrooms. Try to be a little adventurous a experiment with a little darker color than you might normally use, you might be surprised by the result!

Bathrooms make great winter projects because once they’re done, you can appreciate the results every single day.
